The next survey will take place in 2026. It will be an online survey that we will ask you to complete yourself (rather than with an interviewer). We’ll send you more information about the survey closer to the time, and we’ll keep this page updated as we finalise plans.
We’d really like your help to make sure the Age 56 Survey covers the most important issues affecting you personally, and your generation more broadly.
The survey will cover three broad areas. We’d like your thoughts on what to ask about these three areas, and whether there are any additional topics we should include.
Please fill in our short form to tell us what you think.

The form above also asks whether you would like to put yourself forward for a new BCS70 Study Member Advisory Panel. Find out more about what’s involved on the Study Member Advisory Panel page.
Please complete the form above to be considered for the Panel.
We’ve followed your journey from the very beginning and as you’ve moved through the different stages of your lives so far.
In this next survey we’re keen to hear about your relationships with family and friends, as well as support you might be giving others. This period can also be a turning point for people’s health, which can have an impact on how retirement and later life looks, so we’ll be asking questions about this too. We’re keen to hear about what thought – if any – you’ve given to retirement, and if you’re planning to stop work at state pension age or extend your working lives beyond this, whether through choice or necessity.
As with all our surveys, the answers you give will be added to the wealth of information you’ve shared with us before. This will help us investigate how your life experiences up until now have shaped where you are today. And the more of you who take part each time, the better we can understand how life differs for different people.
